really fun game

to get a load of points get a few of the big guys into a corner and keep hitting them. I got 12k points in one level that way.

needs some tweaking

This is a good game. I feel that a few small adjustments should be made though.

-don't have the victory trumpet play until the level is dead. right now it's playing as soon as you reach your objective.
-add the option to replay a level even if you win it
-right now the game feels like "click in a dense spot and hope for the best" and that simply won't do. You need to increase the length of time the ground stays hot or you need to increase the speed of the mines. There's very little room for actual strategy as it is right now.
-a few more levels would have been nice. eventually with multiple clicks allowed, obstacles, special mines, etc. more variety is good
-the advertisements were unobstructive. Very good.

And the guys who are saying this is a ripoff are idiots. There are thousands of games that are very similar to eachother and I don't see anyone bashing Portal Defenders as a ripoff. By your logic it's copying the plethora of other games of that genre.

This game may have been INSPIRED by another, but ripoff is a mean word. Thinking up a new type of game would be very difficult to execute but IMPROVING upon an existing genre is fine so let's leave it at that.

*sighs* i'm glad I got that off my chest. Good game man. i'd like to see an update or a sequel with my suggestions if you have the time for it.

I think that the trumpet sound is in the right place. However, I think I should award people for extra explosions after the level is considered complete! I think I'll find a cha-ching! noise and throw that in there for each one exploded after the level is already done.

As for re-playing the levels, I'm not sure how I'll do that (because it would affect the PeaWorld system a little), so I'll tackle that another day.

But I love the idea of having more than one click in the future. I think I'll throw some changes into the mix in a few minutes, after I finish my homework.

Thanks for the support on the ripoff issue. Inspired is a good choice of words. And thanks for the great review, I enjoyed it!

good, just a few small things

-I found the game to be too difficult. Increasing the lifebar would be great.
-If you could make "W" jump that would help a lot. I was having trouble doing some combos with your control scheme

It was still very fun though. This is a great game you have here

pretty sadistic game

That really was hard. Impossible games aren't fun.

Suggestions:
-Make the game window larger
-smaller objects flying around
-throw in a few rotating sticks as well
-slow it down a bit

Music was just alright. It didn't bother me during the few minutes I spent playing this game.

very good

Visuals were amazing. Loved playing this game.

Add a timed mode (about 7 minutes should do) with updraft upgrades (presumably as the weather becomes increasingly erratic) and you'll increase the replayability quite a bit.

brilliant!

I love this game so much. Customizing and upgrading are some of my favorite things ever so you just made my week.

Few small suggestions:
-Bullet speed upgrades for the main gun would be amazing
-I'd like to see what the base stats are for each thing so I can see if the improvement is actually worth the cost or fi I should spend my cash on soemthing else.
-Make the repair drones smarter. I don't like hwo they all travel around as a group and repair one thing at a time. They need to spread out and repair multiple things at a time so I don't lose my turrets.
-i'd like an option to recall the fighters between waves to repair them (and so i can send them out as one big wave)
-the option to build (or repair?) your shield generator would have been nice.
-if you could put a space between the item cost and "RU" that would be handy.

And tht's all I can think of right now. It's still an amazing game. Favorited.

Karg responds:

issues noted, thanks. at some point during the development, i considered implementing drone and fighters management (recalling, custom repairing etc), but i favored a more action-emergent gameplay approach rather than a real-time strategy/micromanagement one.

just alright

It looks very pretty and it feels like it has the potential to be amazing but it's just too difficult when you get to the later levels.

Switching aim to the mouse might help improve it a bit.

The time limit also sucks, especially when it's so difficult to aim precisely.

a little too easy

once you figure out the knife strategy the game becomes quite easy. A Smarter AI would have helped with this.

Still a very enjoyable game though. I'll be comign back to play this again after work.

amazing game

Dude, that was epic. PLEASE make a sequel with more than one level.

very nice game

I found the difficulty to be a little too steep though. I often had to restart levels to try different strategies which was quite irritating. The game also felt a little too fast-paced for me. I'd increase the time between waves a little if possible.

I like paintballing, reading, and watching flash videos. Gaming's also right up there.
