it's alright.

A few useful features that you might want to update this with would be a back button and a menu where you can quickly find a fact from a master list. I also noticed at least one repeat. Still, good job!

StillBeatingPictures responds:

it picks random facts so there IS a chance it may repeat some, thanks for the review!

impressive

Not bad for 1kb, but would it be too large if you fixed the bugs?

-bullets from nowhere
-game doesn't end when they pass you
-bullets don't harm you
-collision detection is bad. Really bad. I had a hard time hitting the enemies.

Still, good job for the file size!

anthony777w responds:

I noticed these while I was working on it. At first they didn't happen but as I had to shrink it it appeared. But, too bad, I couldn't do anything about it without making it bigger. Thanks for the review though!

almost perfect

Firstly, to first-time players: Just focus on cannon, shield, and engine upgrades. That's all you really need to win. Chase the yellow orbs around and destroy them. Upgrade your engine so you can keep up with them. Careful: they regenerate.

Well I played through this game twice, and I have a number of suggestions for you:

-more enemy types. I want to see battleships hammering away at eachother out there.
-more weapon types and upgrades. What you have is a really good start. How about some sort of system where you have to upgrade your hull to make room for more weapons? Eventually players will be able to elvolve into their own personalized ship type.
-add a campaign mode with missions. Missions could be survival, escort, and your standard "destroy 'em all." A campaign mode would be cool because it would give you enough time to fully upgrade your ship as you see fit.
-sandbox mode where you can fight for as long as you like, with increasing difficulty. Game over when your base is destroyed. Enemy is destructable. Basically a survival game with no end.
-add base upgrades.
-make it easier to get ether. More powerful enemies drop more. It really is a pain to get enough for the mroe expensive upgrades.

You already have most of the hard stuff done, mainly making everything look nice. PM me for more discussion on my V2 suggestions.

Good job.

Kajenx responds:

Thanks for the ideas!

very nice

but my only concerns were the lack of a mute button and the problem with the aiming system. I was having problems with aiming right at enemies and firing only to somehow miss them. You'll need to fix that, but the best way to live with it is to fire a lot and hope for the best.

willcheng responds:

I'm not sure what you mean by a problem with the aiming system. You do need to try and get a central hit as much as you can to destroy the toy.

And there is a mute button.

Thanks for the review!

simple and fun

well my summary says it all. Neat physics work in this one. I would have liked slower ball acceleration (for easier control) and maybe larger/more/moving targets to mix it up a bit.

Bobby444 responds:

Ok maybe I'll slow down the ball a bit. It's quite a fast game at 120 FPS.

awesome

that was a very enjoyable little game! I only wish the paddle was a bit larger and you had a life system.

EXCELLENT!

MisterCarbonBuisness responds:

Salrigt, I suppose, but you can expand the paddle by hitting the ball onto the arrow thingies that appear on the left wall.
And NO LIFE!!!

alright

not bad. Include instructions in the next one. A few of the tasks were a little confusing since you don't really know what you have to do.

StapledPuppet responds:

Well, it is a puzzle game and you have to figure out what to do :=)

it's alright

Well it's a good version of pong, I like the upgrades, but the enemy AI seems as though it has a handicap - it doesn't move as fast as you, and it doesn't think about strategic power activation. It also can't figure out what to do while it's controls are reversed while you can. Fix the enemy AI, and this will be a much better game.

Another problem is that the ball was deflecting in the wrong direction when it hit my paddle. Might want to look into that.

Also, you may as well have spacebar activating powerups as well as starting the next level.

I didn't check but you might want to add a pause option if there isn't one already.

DormantOden responds:

ah yea, a pause, forgot that =P
Cheers simbrian =)

not horrible

but it is a pretty bare-bones game. You need to add mroe features for it to be a really big hit. You might try adding random obstacles, powerups, different arenas, environmental effects, online play, a campaign mode, etc...

Still, it does look like the hard work is over. PM me for more ideas or for me to expand on any that I already listed.

ZuiGe responds:

Yea.. I could do so much with this but nobody seems to be interested... :/ would love to develop the game tho.

odd

I didn't like it.

Treerung responds:

Thanks for the great input!

I like paintballing, reading, and watching flash videos. Gaming's also right up there.
